At BodyKore, we celebrate athletes whose journeys embody resilience, passion, and inspiration. This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Malcolm King—a 52-year-old social media marketing professional, clothing manufacturer, and fitness enthusiast. With a story that blends perseverance, faith, and an unwavering commitment to health, Malcolm proves that it’s never too late to rewrite your narrative and live your best life.

The Early Days: A Lifelong Love for Fitness

Malcolm’s fitness journey began at the age of 13 when his mom gifted him his first gym membership. Since then, staying active has been more than a hobby—it’s been a lifeline. “If I’m not training and conscious of what I put into my body, I get depressed,” Malcolm shares. For him, the gym isn’t just a place to work out; it’s where he finds clarity, focus, and joy.

Rising Above Challenges

Life hasn’t always been easy for Malcolm. From 2010 to 2023, he faced the grueling battle of fighting deportation. “With the grace of God, I finally beat the case,” he says with pride. Now, as he works toward his citizenship, Malcolm’s focus is on building a brighter future, anchored by his faith and commitment to personal growth.

When tough times arise, Malcolm turns to the gym to stay motivated. “Health before wealth,” he declares—a mantra that resonates in every facet of his journey.

Training Tips and Mantras

Malcolm’s training philosophy is simple yet effective:

  1. Train consistently: “3-4 days a week, no matter what.”

  2. Prioritize health over wealth: A principle he lives by daily.

  3. Mindful eating: “Eat only when the sun is up.”

  4. Hydrate: “Fill your muscles with water before training.”

  5. Breathe: “Exhale when pushing through each rep.”

His weekly routine reflects these principles: 3 days on, 1 day off, focusing on push and pull movements with progressive weights. Add in a killer playlist featuring Bob Marley’s War, Westside Connection, and Busta Rhymes, and you’ve got a recipe for a powerhouse workout.

BodyKore: Family in Fitness

Malcolm’s connection with BodyKore runs deep. “BodyKore is like family. Leo [Chang, BodyKore’s founder] has always supported me, even when I was down and out,” Malcolm reflects. From supplying him with quality equipment like dumbbells to backing his business ventures, BodyKore has remained faithful to Malcolm and Malcolm to BodyKore. He says he strives to always show up for the brand when needed.

Business and Personal Growth

Malcolm’s life experiences have shaped his business philosophy. From embracing Les Brown’s principle of keeping commitments to following the wisdom of the Bible, Malcolm has built his brand on trust, faith, and relentless self-improvement. “The Bible says, let your “YES” be yes and your “NO” be no, meaning if you truly can do something and you say “YES,” then you better show up. If you can’t do it or commit to it, then just say NO. This ideology will make you be seen as a person of your WORD.”

For those navigating challenges in business or personal growth, Malcolm emphasizes the power of continuous learning and seeking wise counsel. “Always have a small group of friends and advisors you can go to for help when facing adversity or before venturing into new chapters,” he shares. “And, sometimes just simply follow your gut and take a risk! Jump off the cliff and open new chapters. With God, everything is possible!”

The Bigger Picture

At 52, Malcolm isn’t slowing down. He thrives on staying active, learning, and living by faith. “I feel like I have the energy to make up for lost time,” he explains. Whether it’s keeping up with his sons or setting new personal and professional goals, Malcolm is a testament to the idea that growth has no age limit.

When asked to sum up his journey, Malcolm leaves us with these powerful words: “Keep God first no matter what position you find yourself in. Have faith, follow your dreams, build your team, execute your goals, and know your worth!”
